Biography

Born in Nebraska, but raised in Texas, Ken Coffelt has spent over 20 years as a freelance illustrator and designer. After 6 years at The University of Texas,  Ken hit the ground running and moved to Los Angeles. During the thirteen years he spent in LA, Ken had the privilege of working with some great clients in the advertising, design, publication and editorial fields. Some of those clients include Dow Jones Company, Stanford University, Eating Well Magazine, Los Angeles Magazine, San Jose Mercury News and even Whittle Communications (for the folks old enough to recall the T-Square). Some of the projects earned numerous awards and recognition in Print Magazine and Best of Newspaper Design. 

Over the years, Ken has developed three unique styles of illustration. His medium has moved from traditional acrylic airbrush (portfolio 3) to a digital/mixed medium. To maintain his unique style while working in a digital format, he has created his own library of original painted backgrounds and textures which are composed into his original sketches. 

In 1999, he, his wife and three kid set roots back in the Texas Hill Country where inspiration is endless.
